This Christmas Brings Promotional Merchandising Fever

A recent billboard ad campaign from British Airways is a ‘First Class’ example of promotional merchandise at its very best. Utilising the symbolic British candy treat, the stick of rock, the advert displays a personalised rock with the company slogan running through it, “To fly, to serve” with accompanying text reading “it runs through everything we do.” The interlinking traditional British components work well within the ad and is all tied together nicely with the aid of promotional merchandising- a sure winner in our eyes!

It seems British Airways isn’t the only one with a shrewd marketing campaign for our eyes this Christmas. Stella Artois released their Christmas marketing assault on the world this November, complete with Christmas themed packaging and a TV ad campaign to boot.

Fun fact: Stella Artois began as a lager that was specifically created for Christmas.

Bearing this in mind, the brand has rerouted their marketing plan back to their heritage. This November sees them introducing a new, limited edition festive packaging for their 440ml cans also containing the slogan, “Originally Crafted for Christmas.”

Supported with 30 and 40 second TV ads, social and digital media activities as well as a free eight-track album download of some of the seasons all-time classic songs. We’re still awaiting their order for accompanying Stella Artois printed fridge magnets reading “This Fridge Contains Stella.” Did you know?  The kitchen is the main place where most conversations take place, making magnets a subtle way to influence buying decisions using promotional merchandise to maximise ‘product placement startegies. Speaking of fridge magnets, Innocent Smoothies have been experimenting with promotional giveaways as well, to much success. They have been giving away free alphabet, glow-in-the-dark fridge magnets with purchases of their kid friendly Fruit Tubes. These have been so popular that people are even bidding on the freebies on EBay!
